PRODUCTION & SHIPPING
What is the production time?
Each piece is made by hand and takes about 1-2 weeks for me to complete. Some popular designs are pre-made and can ship out as early as 2 business days. Please contact us if you have a specific date you need your piece for and we will do our best to meet it: email@example.com
Where is your jewelry made?
All of our designs are made here locally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The jewelry is made by mainly myself (Sly Chou) and occasionally with the loving help of my close friends and family! I have been making jewelry for about 7 years now, and specialize in layering and resin jewelry.
What materials do you use to make your jewelry?
We use a variety of durable yet affordable materials such as 14k or 24k gold fill, sterling silver, raw brass, stainless steel, and resin. By using these specific materials we are able to create affordable and also long lasting jewelry.
What is 14K Gold-Fill?
“Gold-filled” is a USA industry standard that legally requires 1/20th, or 5% pure gold by weight. It’s a strictly regulated process that involves pressure bonding multiple layers of solid 14k gold with extreme heat over a core of high-quality jeweler’s brass resulting in a durable real gold product.
What is .925 Sterling Silver?
Sterling silver is considered a precious metal and consists of 92.5% pure silver. The other 7.5% of the alloy is usually copper, which strengthens the silver without compromising its appearance. And while sterling silver will naturally darken over time, it is a solid metal, so you can polish and clean it to look brand new!
What's the difference between gold-filled and gold plated?
Gold-filled jewelry contains 100x more gold than gold plated jewelry. Gold-filled jewelry lasts longer and stands up to wear and tear better than gold plated. Gold plating will generally wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product.
Gold plating has extremely vague legal requirements, and you have no real way of knowing what thickness you’re getting. In fact, oftentimes something will be called “gold plated” when it just has a gold-colored coating and no real gold at all!
Is Gold-Filled Jewelry Durable? How long does it last?
After solid options, Gold-filled jewelry is certainly your best quality for gold pieces. In theory, gold fill items can last a lifetime. Indeed, some gold-fill jewelry still exists from the Victorian era (over 100 years old). In practice, actual longevity will depend on how you care for it and a variety of other factors. Ask us how to care for your jewelry!
Is Gold-Filled Jewelry okay for people with Sensitive Skin?
Yes. 99.9% of people find they have no sensitivity to gold-filled jewelry. Because the outside of the piece is solid 14k gold, it interacts with your skin in the same way solid 14k gold would.
